It’s Not All About Curb Appeal
Undoubtedly, Realtors will all tell prospective sellers that they have only one chance to make a first impression. With this said, Sellers still don’t seem to get it. I am to this day amazed at how many times I take a buyer to a home that the homeowner hasn’t taken the time to at least sweep the front porch.
While on a recent listing presentation, I was surprised when my seasoned Seller thought cleaning up the landscape wasn’t necessary to sale the home. One doesn’t have to spend large amounts of money to make a good first impression. Simple things to the exterior of the home can be done and they will make a big first impression.
So Sellers, by all means spruce things up. Put a pot of flowers at the front door, clean the front door, sweep down those cobwebs, rake up the leaves and mow the lawn and please sweep the entry into your home. It is the first step to making a great first impression.
Remember that while an agent is fumbling to open the lockbox to show your home, the potential Buyer is inspected everything at the front door.
